Smooth deck surfaces
Over time, traditionally installed nails or screws between decking planks and joists tend to pop up or rust. This presents not only an unsightly surface, but a potentially hazardous one, requiring regular maintenance over the lifetime of the deck. Edge-Fast fasteners go between the boards, out of sight, providing a smooth, safe finish with strong joints that will hold position for years to come.
Ease of use
While traditional screw guns and screws could take three minutes to install two deck boards, the Edge-Fast enables you to install eight in the same amount of time.
The Edge-Fast fastener locks two edges of PVC and most wood square edge decking with just one placement over a joist. It then makes a positive connection of decking to joist without any lateral movement. The pneumatic tool has interchangeable spacer plates for gaps of zero, 1/8”, 3/16” and ¼” – or a custom gap of your choice. Optional tongue and groove plates are sold separately.
To use the tool, simply install the gap spacer plate of your choice into the tool base and load the fastener cartridge. Then place the gap spacer against the loose edge of the board. Pivot the tool down so that the magazine is parallel over your starting board. While pulling the loose board tight to the spacer, push the tool down toward the base and oncoming board. Once the safety is unlocked, hold the board forward and pull the trigger.
Fasteners
Fasteners are collated for easy handling and quick loading and sold in packages of 350, enough to cover 100 square feet of 6” decking when installed 16” on center. They are available in 304 stainless steel or the more economical Edgecoat steel, which is approved for ACQ pressure-treated lumber.
